Largo is now Journalistic! Check out the updates we’ve made in v1.6.0.
Say hello to a beautiful, flexible way to publish content that is more impactful and immersive than anything you’ve tried. No, it’s not Medium.com, which of course everyone loves. And no, it’s not a custom CMS for a big-name publishing giant–but it’s close. We’ve finally launched one of the most ambitious themes we’ve ever dreamed up. And it’s incredible.
Largo is a responsive theme with all the features you might expect from a hosted platform like Medium.com–all available on your very own WordPress website.
Your Very Own Storytelling Platform
One of the biggest shifts in recent years has been some of the biggest publishing companies in the world investing in their own storytelling systems. The New York Times has one, CNN does too. Now the rest of the world finally has theirs. With deep integration with Aesop Story Engine, Largo brings advanced features that you’d typically spend thousands of dollars to develop for your own site. Combined with the publishing power of WordPress, you can’t go wrong.
Features of Largo
#1. Inline Commenting System
This feature is one that you won’t find inside many premium WordPress themes. Instead of using a traditional comment system where comments appear at the end of your article or blog post, Largo adds the ability to comment on any paragraph inside your content. This allows for immersive discussions to take place in context, directly attached to the paragraph in question.
#2. Beautiful Typography from Typekit
As announced earlier this year, we’ve started pairing custom fonts in our themes to give our users a much needed design upgrade over what most theme shops do (throw a couple Google Fonts into the theme and call it a day). Largo comes with Museo Sans and Freight Text Pro, two incredible fonts that are easy on the eyes and enhance readability and offer a clean, modern experience for your readers. Every purchase comes with these Typekit fonts included at no additional cost for one year from the date of purchase.
#3. Customize Colors, Logo, Widgets and More
Largo offers a number of custom color schemes along with the ability to select custom colors. In addition, we’ve added a number of settings to the WordPress Customizer that can be used to control your logo image, homepage text and image, and more.
#4. Deep Integration with Jetpack by WordPress.com
Rather than pack in a bunch of additional features that most users don’t need, we rely on one of the most popular plugins in the WordPress.org repositories to add features like Infinite Scroll, Featured Content, and more
#5. Aesop Story Engine Integration
Last but not least, we’ve built Largo to look even better with Aesop Story Engine. Aesop adds the ability to utilize a number of storytelling features in your own posts and articles. You can now easily add parallax images, videos, quotes (with parallax & additional customization), columns of text (with background images), interactive maps, characters, chapters, and even timelines! Immersive storytelling has never been this easy or beautiful.
its pretty nice 🙂 definitely i will try it in my next project!
I ported my blog over to Largo and am happy with the results. However, I realized my legacy comments don’t show up. Is there a way I can get both paragraph-specific and all-of-post comments to co-exist?
storytelling platform great for blogging 🙂 i will try this new feature asap! thanks for post
